Laney Madsen of Gym-Max has committed to UCLA for 2020-21. Laney is a fan favourite for her unusual gymnastics story. She began partner stunting aged one and started competing as a cheerleader aged six. She made her first Cheerleading World Championships appearance at thirteen years old and since then she has become a multiple national and world champion.
The 2012 Olympics inspired Laney, who decided to take gymnastics classes too. In 2015 she competed at her first Level 10 meet and two years later she achieved her elite qualifying score. In summer 2017 she competed at the senior U.S. Secret Classic.
In 2019 Laney competed at the European Championships representing Bulgaria, where her mother is from, but still did not give up her cheerleading career and a few weeks later she impressively won a cheerleading world championships title. She hopes to qualify to the 2020 Olympics, before joining UCLA in the fall of 2020.
