Meet the 2019 Auburn Freshman Class

Auburn is welcoming a very strong freshman class: Sabrina Cheney of Orlando Metro Gymnastics; Molly Frack of Parkettes; Derrian Gobourne of Lakewood Ranch Gymnastics; Reid Schaefer of World Class Gymnastics Academy; Mia Schlarbaum of Rochester Gymnastics Academy; and Sydney Wrighte of Hill’s Gymnastics.

 

Name: Sabrina Cheney

Club: Orlando Metro Gymnastics

Best event(s): Floor

Sabrina Cheney is a two-time Junior Olympic qualifier (2016 and 2017). In 2017, she tied for bronze on floor at the Florida State Championships, and repeated the same result a month later at the Region 8 Championships. In 2018 she regained a bronze medal on floor at the State Championships. Also in 2018, Sabrina won a bronze medal on beam at the Sand Dollar/Whitlow Invitational.

Name: Molly Frack

Club: Parkettes National Gymnastics Center

Best event(s): Bars and floor

Molly Frack is a Junior Olympic qualifier and a former U.S. elite gymnast. As an elite, she competed twice at the Secret U.S. Classic and twice at the P&G Championships (2013 and 2014. In 2012, she was third on floor at the American Classic in the Hopes category, and in 2013, she was second on floor and third on beam in the Junior category. As a Level 10, Molly is the 2016 Pennsylvania state champion on bars, as well as the 2016 Region 7 silver medallist on floor.

Name: Derrian Gobourne

Club: Lakewood Ranch Gymnastics

Best event(s): All around

Derrian Gobourne is a six-time Junior Olympic qualifier (2013-18), and she won at least one medal in the last three editions of the meet. In 2016, she was second on bars and fifth in the all around in the Junior F division. In 2017, she was third on vault and fourth in the all around in the Senior C division. And in 2018, she won gold on bars and bronze in the all around in the Senior F division. Derrian had an outstanding 2018 season. Prior to the J.O.s, she won gold in the all around, on vault, bars and floor, and bronze on beam at the Florida State Championships, and gold in the all around, on vault and bars, and silver on beam and floor at the Region 8 Championships. In 2018, Derrian also competed at the Nastia Liukin Cup, where she finished eighth in the all around.

Name: Reid Schaefer

Club: World Class Gymnastics Academy

Best event(s): Vault and floor

Reid Schaefer qualified to the Junior Olympics in 2017, where she tied for thirteenth place on vault. That same year, she was first on vault at the New York State Championships, and third also on vault at the Region 6 Championships. In 2018, she won gold on vault and beam and silver in the all around at the Warrior Classic and at the Niagara Cup.

Name: Mia Schlarbaum

Club: Rochester Gymnastics Academy

Best event(s): Vault and beam

Mia Schlarbaum is a 2016 Junior Olympic qualifier, where she was fifty-fifth in the all around in the Senior A division. 2016 was a very good season for Mia. She won silver on beam and bronze in the all around at the Region 6 Championships, as well as gold on all events at the Women’s Victory Classic. In 2017, she won gold on beam at the Pinky Stone Memorial, and in 2018 she won gold on bars and beam at the Rochester Classic.

Name: Sydney Wrighte

Club: Hill’s Gymnastics

Best event(s): Vault and beam

Sydney Wrighte qualified to the Junior Olympics in 2018. Also in 2018, she won silver on beam at the Maryland State Championships, and was fifth on beam and floor at the Region 7 Championships. Sydney is the 2016 State champion on balance beam.
