Meet the 2019 Stanford Freshman Class

Stanford is welcoming an outstanding freshman class: Madison Brunette of Metropolitan Gymnastics; Morgan Hoang of Houston Gymnastics Center of the JCC; Evelyn Micco of Arizona Sunrays; Wesley Stephenson of Legacy Elite; and Grace Waguespack of Gymnastics USA.

 

Name: Madison Brunette

Club: Metropolitan Gymnastics

Best event(s): Vault, bars and floor

Madison Brunette is a six-time Junior Olympic qualifier (2013 to 2018). In 2014, she tied for bronze on vault in the Junior A division. In 2015, she tied for eleventh on floor in the Junior C division. In 2016 and in 2017, she tied for sixth place on bars in the Junior F and in the Senior C divisions respectively. And in 2018, she tied for twenty-third on bars in the Senior E division. Madison is the 2018 Region 2 champion in the all around, vault, bars and floor.

Name: Morgan Hoang

Club: Houston Gymnastics Center of the JCC

Best event(s): Vault, beam and floor

Morgan Hoang is a two-time Junior Olympic qualifier (2016 and 2017). In 2016, she tied for sixteenth place on beam in the Senior A division. And in 2017, she tied for ninth on beam and for eleventh on floor in the Senior C division. In 2018, Morgan won silver on floor at the Kim Zmeskal’s Texas Prime Meet, and gold on beam at the Houston National Invitational.

Name: Eve Micco

Club: Arizona Sunrays

Best event(s): Vault, bars and floor

Eve Micco is a three-time Junior Olympic qualifier (2014, 2015 and 2017). In 2014, she tied for twentieth place on bars in the Junior B division. In 2015, she was fifteenth on bars in the Junior C division. And in 2017, she was ninth in the all around. In 2018, Eve won gold on bars at the Arizona State Championships, as well as silver on vault and floor, and bronze in the all around. She then tied for bronze on vault at the Region 1 Championships.

Name: Wesley Stephenson

Club: Legacy Elite

Best event(s): All around

Wesley Stephenson is a three-time Junior Olympic qualifier (2013, 2014 and 2017). In 2013, she was seventh on beam in the Junior A division. In 2014, she tied for gold on beam in the Junior B division. And in 2017, she was tenth on bars and beam in the Senior D division. In 2018, she won silver on beam and bronze on bars and in the all around at the Illinois State Championships, and silver on beam at the Region 5 Championships.

Name: Grace Waguespack

Club: Gymnastics USA

Best event(s): Vault and bars

Grace Waguespack is a four-time Junior Olympic qualifier (2013 and 2015-17). In 2013, she tied for silver on bars and for bronze on floor in the Junior A division. In 2015, she tied for fourth on bars in the Junior C division. In 2016, she tied for fifteenth on bars and for sixteenth in the all around. And in 2017, she was ninth on bars. In 2018, she won the bars title at the Lucky Luck Invitational. Grace also competed elite in 2013. She competed at the Secret U.S. Classic and at the P&G Championships, where she scored a very good 13.800 on vault.
