Meet the 2019 Michigan Freshman Class

Michigan is welcoming one of the most talented freshmen classes in the country: Abby Brenner of Metroplex Gymnastics; Abby Heiskell of NC Southeastern; Madison Mariani of Arizona Dynamics; and Natalie Wojcik of Stallone Gymnastics.

 

Name: Abby Brenner

Club: Metroplex Gymnastics

Best event(s): Vault, bars and floor

Abby Brenner is a five-time Junior Olympic qualifier (2013-2015, 2017 and 2018). In 2013, she tied for bronze on floor in the Junior A division. In 2014, she tied for gold on floor and for fourth place in the all around in the Junior B division. In 2015, she won silver in both the all around and on floor in the Junior C division. In 2017, she won gold medals in the all around, on bars and floor and silver on vault in the Senior D division. And in 2018, she was fourth in the all around, on vault and bars in the Senior F division. Also in 2018, Abby won gold medals on vault, bars, floor and in the all around at the Texas State Championships, and gold medals on vault, bars and in the all around at the Region 3 Championships.

Name: Abby Heiskell

Club: NC Southeastern-USAG

Best event(s): All around

Abby Heiskell is a three-time Junior Olympic qualifier (2014, 2015 and 2017). In 2015, she was fourth on bars in the Junior C division. And in 2017, she tied for gold on vault and for fourth place again on bars in the Senior C division. Abby competed at three meets in 2018 – the Atlanta Crown Invitational, the Metroplex Challenge and the GGI, and won the all around at all of them.

Name: Madison Mariani

Club: Arizona Dynamics

Best event(s): All around

Madison Mariani is a two-time Junior Olympic qualifier (2015 and 2017). In 2015, she tied for fifth place on vault and was tenth in the all around in the Junior C division. In 2017, she tied for fourth place in the all around in the Senior D division. Madison is the 2017 Arizona State Champion on all events but bars, and the Region 1 champion on vault. In 2018, she competed only at the California Grand Invitational, where she was third on bars.

Name: Natalie Wojcik

Club: Stallone Gymnastics

Best event(s): All around

Natalie Wojcik is a four-time Junior Olympic qualifier (2014, 2015, 2017 and 2018). In 2014, she tied for gold on beam and won bronze on floor in the Junior B division. In 2015, she won gold on floor in the Junior C division. In 2017, she won gold on vault and silver on beam in the Senior D division. And in 2018, she finally won gold in the all around, as well as silver on vault and bars. Also in 2018, Natalie won gold in the all around, bars and floor at the Region 7 Championships.
