Meet the 2019 Oklahoma Freshman Class

The Oklahoma Sooners, who finished second at last year’s Nationals, are welcoming three excellent freshmen this season: Emma Lapinta of Kurt Thomas Gymnastics; Allie Stern of Perfect Balance; and Olivia Trautman of Twin City Twisters.

 

Name: Emma Lapinta

Club: Kurt Thomas Gymnastics

Best event(s): Vault and floor

Emma Lapinta is a two-time Junior Olympic qualifier (2017 and 2018). In 2017 she tied for sixteenth place in the all around in the Senior B division, and in 2018 she was twentieth in the Senior E division. In 2018 she was also seventh in the all around at the Texas State Championships, and second on floor at the Region 3 Championships.

Name: Allie Stern

Club: Perfect Balance

Best event(s): Vault

Allie Stern competed at the Junior Olympics in 2017, where she tied for gold on vault. That same year she won gold on floor at the Region 8 Championships, and two more golds on vault and floor at the North Carolina State Championships. In 2018, she won medals on all events at the State Championships: gold on vault and floor, and silver on bars, beam and in the all around. Her last competition of the year was Regionals, where was won bronze on vault.

Name: Olivia Trautman

Club: Twin City Twisters

Best event(s): Vault and floor

Olivia Trautman is a former U.S. elite gymnast. In 2014, as a junior, she won bronze on floor at the Secret U.S. Classic, and silver on vault at the P&G Championships. In 2016, as a senior, she was eighth on floor and vault and the U.S. Classic, and eighth on floor at P&Gs. Olivia dropped down to level 10 towards the end of her club career and had an outstanding 2018 season. She won gold on vault, bars, floor and in the all around at the Minnesota State Championships, and gold on vault, beam, floor and in the all around at the Region 4 Championships. She qualified to the Junior Olympics, where she won gold on floor, tied for second on vault and took third in the all around.
