Australia’s national team member Jade Vella-Wright of Waverly Gymnastics Centre has committed to Iowa State for the 2020-21 season.
Jeda began competing at the elite level in 2013. That year, she had a fantastic first Australian National Championships, where she finished first with the team, third in the all around and on vault, and second on the uneven bars. In 2014, she defended her bronze medal in the all around and added a bronze medal on bars. In 2015, she was first with the team and fifth in the all around. In 2016, her last year as a junior, she had a fantastic competition, winning gold medals with the team, on beam and on floor, second in the all around and third on bars.
Internationally, her first competition was the Elite Gym Massilia in France, where she was thirteenth with the team. She went on to have a great competition at the Olympic Hopes Cup in the Czech Republic, where she won a silver medal on bars and was eighth in the all around. In 2017, she competed at the International Gymnix Cup in Canada in the senior division, and finished fourth with the team, sixth on bars and thirteenth in the all around.
