Dani Petrousek of Gymnastics Academy of Rockford has committed to Western Michigan University for the 2020-21 season.
Her gym congratulated her on Facebook: ‘Congratulations to GAR Athlete Dani Petrousek who verbally committed to Western Michigan for a full athletic scholarship!! Way to go Dani!!#GARPROUD’.
Dani has had a very long Level 10 career. Her first Level 10 meet was back in 2014 at the Arizona Grand Invitational, where she was eighth in the all around. That year, she was fourth on floor and the Illinois State Championships, and twenty-ninth in the all around at the Region 5 Championships. In 2015, she won a silver medal on floor, a bronze medal on vault and was fourth in the all around at the State Championships and sixth on vault at Regionals, and qualified to her first Junior Olympics. There, she finished thirty-second in the all around. In 2016, Dani won silver medals in the all around and on floor and bronze on bars at the State Championships, and was sixth on bars, beam and in the all around at Regionals. She requalified to the Junior Olympics, where she tied for twelfth on floor. In 2017, Dani regained three medals at the State Championships, silver in the all around and on floor (tied) and bronze on bars. She later won her first Regional medals, a gold on beam and a bronze (tied) on bars. She ended her season at her third J.O. National Championships, where she tied for seventeenth place on floor and for thirty-seventh in the all around.
