Brooklyn Doggette, who graduated from the University of West Virginia in 2016, married fiancé Jason McMurray last weekend.
She wrote on Twitter: ‘OFFICIALLY BROOKLYN MCMURRAY!!!’
West Virginia Gymnastics also congratulated the newlyweds on Twitter: ‘Congrats to WVU Gym Alum @broooklynnnnn on her marriage this past weekend to Jason McMurray! You looked beautiful ❤️ #WVUGymAlumni’.
Brooklyn’s dream to compete as a Mountaineer came from her parents, who were both athletes at West Virginia. Her father, Cecil, played football in 1991-92, and her mother Becky was a Mountaineer gymnast in 1992-93.
Doggette arrived at West Virginia in the summer of 2014, but had to sit out her freshman year due to a shoulder injury. She however persevered, and in 2015 she competed consistently on the uneven bars and on balance beam for the Mountaineers. She has career highs of 9.800 on bars and of 9.825 on beam.
Brooklyn has a sister, Makarri Doggette, who is also a gymnast. She trains at Buckeye Gymnastics with Kittia Carpenter and is committed to the University of Alabama for the 2019-20 season.
