Morgan Hoang of Houston Gymnastics Center of the JCC has committed to Stanford for the 2018-19 season.
She wrote on Twitter: ‘Excited to announce my commitment to Stanford Univeristy to continue my academics & gymnastics career on an athletic scholarship! GO CARD!❤️’.
Hoang began competing as a Level 10 gymnast in 2014. That year she won a silver medal on floor at the Svetlana Boguinskaia Invitational. In 2015 she competed at her first Level 10 Texas State Championships, where she finished ninth on vault and beam and fourteenth in the all around. She then competed at the Region 3 Championships, where she tied for seventh on beam and was sixteenth in the all around. In 2016, she competed again at the State Championships, where she won a silver medal on floor and was fourth in the all around. At Regionals, she was fourth in the all around, on beam and on floor (tied). She qualified to her first Junior Olympics, where she tied for thirty-eighth in the all around in the Senior A division. In 2017, at the State Championships Hoang won bronze on floor and was seventh in the all around. At Regionals, she tied for silver on floor and was sixth in the all around. She qualified to her second Junior Olympics, where she tied for eleventh on floor and for twenty-fourth in the all around.
