Madelyn Williams of San Mateo Gymnastics has committed to the University of California, Berkeley for the 2021-22 season.
Williams competed in 2017 both as a Level 10 and as an elite gymnast. She competed at the Level 10 Northern California State Championships only on the uneven bars and tied for silver. She qualified to the Region 1 Championships, where she again competed only on bars and won a gold medal. In May 2017, Williams qualified to elite at the Parkettes National Elite Qualifier, where she won the uneven bars title with an impressive 14.300, and was third both in the all around and on vault. As an elite gymnast, she competed at the U.S. Classic, where she won a silver medal on bars and was eighth in the all around. Williams began competing as a Level 10 gymnast in 2015. That year she won gold on bars at the Northern California State Championships, and gold on bars and beam, and silver in the all around at the Region 1 Championships. She qualified to her first Junior Olympics, where she finished thirty-third in the all around in the junior A division. In 2016 she competed at only one meet as a junior elite, the KPAC Cup, where she won bronze medals on vault and beam.
