Utah’s Sabrina Schwab Takes Medical Retirement

My heart is broken. Yesterday, Utah’s junior Sabrina Schwab announced early medical retirement due to persistent injuries.

Schwab had an outstanding freshman season two years ago. She was named Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week four times in 2016, hit 26 routines out of 26, won three event titles, and, at the end of the regular season, she was named Pac-12 Freshman of the Year.

Last year, as a sophomore, Schwab competed in the first two meets of the season, both times as an all arounder. During the third week of the regular season, however, Schwab tore her ACL ligament, which put an end to her season.

Persistent injuries have since then forced her to retire prematurely. She ends her career with 34 hit routines out of 34.

Sabrina Schawb will be remembered for being one of the most beautiful floor workers of recent times. She has career highs of 9.925 on bars and of 9.950 on floor.
