Haley Kondo of World Class Gymnastics Academy has committed to Cornell for the 2018-19 season.
Her gym wrote on Facebook: ‘Congratulations Haley Kondo! We’re proud to announce she committed to continue her gymnastics career at Cornell.’
Kondo began competing as a Level 10 gymnast in December 2013. In 2014, she competed at the New York State Championships, where she finished sixth on vault and ninth in the all around. She then competed at the Region 6 Championships, where she tied for bronze on vault and was ninth in the all around. She qualified to her first ever Junior Olympic National Championships, where she was twentieth on vault and twenty-sixth in the all around. In 2016, she competed at only one meet, the World Class Invitational, where she won gold medals in the all around and on beam, and bronze medals on vault and bars. In 2017, she competed again at the New York State Championships, where she won silver on vault and tied for fifth in the all around. She qualified to Regionals, and regained a bronze medal on vault and was fifth in the all around. She ended her season at the Junior Olympics, where she finished fifty-fourth in the all around.
