Griffin James of Gymstrada Gymnastics School has committed to Alabama for the 2018-19 season. She is hands down one of the best Level 10 gymnasts I have ever seen, I so much look forward to seeing her compete at Bama!
James has been competing as a Level 10 since 2012, an incredibly long period of time! Since then, she has qualified to five Junior Olympic National Championships (2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2017). In 2012, she took the Level 10 world by storm. At the Virginia State Championships, she won gold medals on bars, floor and in the all around and silver medals on beam and vault. At the Region 7 Championships, she won gold on bars, tied for bronze on vault and was fourth in the all around. She qualified to her first ever Junior Olympics, where she was ninth on vault. 2013 was another outstanding season for James. At the State Championships, she won gold medals in the all around and on all four events. At Regionals, she tied for silver on floor, she won bronze on vault and was fourth in the all around. She qualified again to the J.O.s, where she tied for seventh on bars and for sixteenth in the all around. In 2014, James had an even more impressive season. At the State Championships, she defended her all around title and won gold on all apparatuses but vault, where she was second. At Regionals, she won the all around crown, as well as the bars and floor titles. At the Junior Olympics she won her first medal, a bronze on vault (tied) in the Junior A division. In 2015, James continued her amazing career, winning the all around title for the fourth consecutive time at the State Championships, as well as gold medals on floor and vault (tied). At Regionals, she won gold on floor and silver on vault and in the all around. At the Junior Olympics, she defended her bronze medal on vault, this time all by herself. After struggling with an injury in 2016 and 2017, she competed at the 2017 State Championships only on bars and beam, and won both events (tied on bars). At Regionals, she was back competing in the all around, winning a bronze medal on floor and finishing fourth in the all around. She qualified to the Junior Olympics for the fifth time, and finished fourth on vault and tied for eighth on floor in the Senior B division.
